I have an Asus X200MA-SCL050F from Worst Buy, 11.6 touchscreen 4 GB memory 100 gig HD celeron processor. It seems to be decent and I’ve done thorough research and opinion-seeking on tech sites already but I’m thinking of getting a refund by the end of the return period Wed. Why? Because I realized I don’t need a 100 gig HD and can probably live with a 32 gig SSHD (I have nothing stored on it other than the bloatware it came with, so what am I doing with it anyway?) which would basically knock the price down nearly a 100 bucks (this thing’s $249). Also it doesn’t even have an option to upgrade to Win10 for some reason (I really am enjoying Win10 on my desktop so it’d be nifty). What say you Oppo?

I’m particularly thinking of getting a Nextbook which apparently is a Walmart exclusive, but it’s got rave reviews, it’s below 200 bucks (less than 170 depending on when and where you look) and it’s a legit 2-in-1 that can detach from it’s keyboard, and it’s got a more traditional laptop-like keyboard, not a glorified plastic-coated piece of cardboard glued to a low-end tablet. I think the stats are pretty standard for what you’d expect - 4 gig RAM, 32 gig SSHD, uh, other stuff.

32gb of storage is not enough for a Windows machine, my previous Windows tablet only had that and even with a 64gb sd card in it with all my folders pointing to the card I still kept getting low diskspace issues and having to clean it up, which would only work for a short while. My current tablet has 64gb plus the 64gb sd card and is fine, just checked and there is still 29gb free on it after about 7 months of use and me not worrying about it and cleaning it up.

Getting something with 32GB is really not a good idea at all. Keep in mind an OS install will get larger over time due to programs, cache, browsing, and OS updates.

64GB *minimum* and even that is pushing it close.

I wouldn’t recommend something with that tiny of a hard drive. And I would recommend you get 8GB of ram in either case.

And as far as brands go, I have more faith in the Asus brand than a brand like “NextBook”. Asus is a reputable brand with a long history of making quality products. I have built a few personal PCs using ASUS motherboards.

Walmart sells a lot of stuff that is cheap. But a lot of it is cheap because it’s CRAP.

And I suspect this is one of those CHEAP-CRAP things.

Stick with your Asus. If you want Windows 10 so bad, follow the instructions here:

I had a NextBook 7 tablet for 6 months last year. It was great until it wasn’t. It was cheap so I didn’t get “Protection” hoping it would last at least a year.

The USB port had issues one month in, it started randomly shutting down while in use at 3 months and at 6 months it completely died.

They sound like a good bang for the buck but beware!

I wouldn’t get anything with full Windows with less than 64GB of storage at the barest minimum. The WinBook TW802 tablet I'm writing this on has only 32GB of onboard storage, and Windows 10 uses almost half of that, and just a few recent games took up a good chunk of the other half.
